Many visitors to Ireland wish to spend at least one night in a castle, and there are many to choose from. These are just a few of those we recommend as being above average in all aspects of accommodation and service. You can opt to stay in less expensive accommodation and have just one night in a castle as a treat.

Dromoland Castle, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Co Clare

This 16th century castle is considered one of the top luxury hotels in Europe and has hosted many famous guests, including presidents and other heads of state.

The ancient surroundings are combined with stat of the art service and facilities, with every luxury available in each of the 75 beautifully appointed guest rooms and suites. The grounds are extensive and magnificent, including several gardens, rolling parkland and a natural lake.

 The dining rooms are a destination in themselves, with some of the best food in Ireland served here. Tennis, fishing and boating are available and the estate is home to an 18 hole championship Golf course.

Ashford Castle, Cong, Co Mayo

Ashford Castle is one of the top luxury castle hotels in the world and has been enjoyed by many past US presidents and other heads of state.
