Our Personally Selected Accommodation
Castles | Manor Houses | Luxury Hotels | Our Selection
Some accommodation does not fit easily into another category, and there are some very reasonably priced but excellent guesthouses that our guests have enjoyed in the past. These selections are all highly recommended by us, all are of a very high standard and many offer exceptional value for money.
Expect to pay between €150 and €250 per room per night, depending on season and room type, in these properties. This will include breakfast.
Sample Country and Manor House Accommodation
Arlington Lodge, Waterford
Arlington
Lodge was originally the residence of the Paul family, prominent
merchants in the city, and later the seat of the Roman Catholic Bishops of
Waterford and Lismore and remained with the church for over 200 years.
Now carefully restored, it provides all the amenities of a luxury country house, with superb accommodation and fine dining restaurant.
It is conveniently located in the historic Viking/Norman city of Waterford, close to the Waterford Crystal factory and yet splendidly isolated from the everyday world.
Aberdeen House, Dublin
A
restored Edwardian townhouse, Aberdeen Lodge is situated on Park Avenue,
Ballsbridge, Dublin's embassy belt, and is very convenient to the city
center.
The large rooms and suites combine comfort with a high level of facilities. Several rooms have four-poster beds; all have period furniture and some have whirlpool spas. The rooms are air conditioned.
While Aberdeen House has no restaurant (other than for breakfast), there are
a myriad of very good places for dinner nearby.
The Fairview, Co Kerry
A
purpose built, owner run, guesthouse in the heart of Killarney, Fairview
Lodge is very stylishly decorated and provides accommodation that many
hotels would find it hard to match. Guestrooms are spacious and individually
designed and in addition to a very high standard of facilities some very
nice extra touches.
Breakfast is an experience, with an imaginative menu and an impressive buffet.
Again, dinner is not available but the area is well served with excellent restaurants.
Carrig House, Co Wicklow
Carrig
House is charming and meticulously restored Victorian residence situated on
the shores of beautiful Caragh Lake in Kerry, with spectacular views across
the wilderness of the Kerry mountains.
Bedrooms are spacious and elegant, individually decorated with full private bathrooms and the best modern facilities.
The restaurant overlooks the lake and serves Irish food with salmon and
trout from the lake, succulent Kerry Lamb from the mountain, wild game and
organic vegetables from the hotel's own walled Kitchen garden.
